All the participants of the NEPTUN Stakeholders and Industry Info Days assessed this initiative as a useful and valuable tool which bridges the gap between industry and academic institutions. The presentations delivered during these events were very interesting and informative. Moreover, they often presented real-life examples and case studies showing the practical introduction of Industry 4.0 principles in daily operations of various enterprises, including SME’s and large factories. The general conclusion which can be drawn after the meetings is that there is a need to introduce a set of guidelines that can be followed by the representatives of industrial and academic societies, but also by local and regional governments and law-givers to promote and introduce Industry 4.0. A special emphasis was put on the necessary cooperation between the industrialists and scientists – participants of the meeting agreed that this collaboration has a valid meaning for the introduction of
Industry 4.0. Another important issue raised during the proceedings of the stakeholders and info days was the necessity to upgrade and modify the academic curricula in order to educate engineers and MSc’s and ensure that they are ready to work in Industry 4.0 environment. Participants of the meetings representing the local and regional industry expressed their interest in joining or, at least,
supporting the Cluster of Excellence. They also noted that Project NEPTUN was very promising enterprise and expressed their hope that its successful completion will bring substantial benefits – both intellectual and physical - to all the stakeholders.
